Evan William Lockner

September 20, 2012 — February 23, 2020

Carmel

Our Young Warrior, Evan William Lockner, went home to Heaven on February 23, 2020, after waging a long, courageous battle against brain cancer.  Evan had an indomitable spirit, and he cast the brightest light in every room he entered. He was smart, vibrant, and wickedly funny.  Evan loved to laugh. His laugh was equal parts sweet and feisty, infectious, and joyful.  He was quick with a one-liner, with a twinkle in his eye and a smirk on his precious face.  Evan was loving and so very, very loved.  He was a cuddle bug who gave great hugs.  But above all, Evan was one of the Lockner Brothers, and he idolized his three older brothers, Justin, Nathan, and Logan.  No matter how he felt or the challenges he faced, Evan insisted on being part of the action with his brothers and his friends.  Evan was proud to follow in his brothers’ footsteps and become a Cub Scout, and he was named an Honorary Eagle Scout by his oldest brother’s Troop.  Evan was an honorary firefighter with the Carmel Fire Department.  He loved ninja classes, Tae Kwon Do, and Mickey Mouse.  Evan and his dog, Apollo, were inseparable.

It is difficult to put into words all the wonderful things that made up Evan.  He defied expectations.  He was special.  He was a gift to everyone that had the privilege of knowing him and loving him.  He was our Young Warrior, and we will forever be inspired by his quiet strength and huge heart.

Evan is survived by his adoring parents, Kelly and Randall Lockner; and his three older brothers, Justin, Nathan, and Logan.  He also is survived by great grandma, Susan Dick; grandparents Judith Thompson, John Kloiber, Phyllis and Don Vancas, and Mary Amadouni; aunts and uncles (cousins),  Kim and Randy Trost (Zach, wife Katie, Danny, Joey), Terrie and Adam Miller (Collin, Kevin, Ellie), Carrie Kloiber (Madison, Kailee), Jonathan and Alyssa Lockner (Jackson), Aaron Lockner, Ray and Susan Canole (Will, Emily), and Anna Canole (Alisabeth); and extended family and dear friends.
