Frances (Dawson) Hollett,
81, of Indianapolis, passed away March 28, 2012. Fran was born in Grandview, Indiana on February 11, 1931 to Francis Marion and Ruth Freshley Dawson. She attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. She was the widow of Rhiman A. Rotz and Byron P. (Barney) Hollett.
Fran is survived by her loving family, daughters; Cynthia A. Hoffman, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Susan K. Rancourt, Bloomfield, Conn., step-daughter; Jody Hollett, and step-son; Byron P. Hollett, Jr., both of Indianapolis, IN., brother; Donald K. Dawson, niece; Debra K. Latham and nephew; Dale K. Dawson, all of Evansville, IN. Also surviving are Tony and Leslie Altavilla, two friends that were very close to Fran and Barney.
Fran had a very special place in her heart for Barney's Alma mater, Wabash College. Fran was the first woman to receive "Honorary Alumnus Status" at Wabash in 1985. In 2006, she was inducted into the Wabash College Athletic Hall of Fame. She was an active, long-time member of Meridian Street United Methodist Church, member and former director of the Woodstock Club and currently serves as a director of the Woodstock Foundation. Her other memberships are numerous and include Crooked Stick Golf Club.
Memorial services for Fran will be held at Meridian Street United Methodist Church, 5500 N. Meridian St. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11AM. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the church parlor from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
