Gary Frazier Smith

July 12, 1952 — July 16, 2018

Gary Frazier Smith, age 66, of Marion, IN passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2018 in Indianapolis, IN. Gary was born July 12, 1952 in Marion, IN to Roger V. and Glenna L. (Boatright) Smith. He married Cameo Foster on April 23, 2008 in LaPorte, IN. He was a 1970 graduate of Marion High School and attended Indiana University.

During his youth Gary served as an altar boy, sang with the youth choirs at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church. As a member, Gary later served as Sunday School Superintendent, led weekly Bible Study class and enjoyed playing the drums for church service.

Gary was a member of local bands and performed throughout the Midwest. He was a former member of Wilson Masonic Lodge #12 F&AM. He worked for R.J. Reynolds and Great Lakes Industries.

Gary loved music, IndyCar Racing, Indianapolis Colts, and Indiana Pacers. He had a great sense of humor, always jovial and could make anyone laugh. Gary was very social and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife Cameo; sons, Travon (Alexis) and Benjamin; mother, Glenna L. Smith; grandson, Elijah. He is also survived by his brother, Vincent (Sheiletha) Smith; sister Rogina (Greg) Banks; nieces and nephews, Shawna Sims, Amy (Steve) Foster, Dawn Seymour, Matthew Sims, Eric Banks, Monica Sims and Krista Banks; several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Roger V. Smith, he was predeceased by his sister Jan D. Sims.

A memorial service will be held at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 3440 S. Washington Street, Marion, IN 46953 on August 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Allen Temple A.M.E. Church.

Services were entrusted to ARN Funeral and Cremation Services, Zionsville, IN.
