Geneva B Sims-Patton

Geneva B. Sims-Patton
passed away September 16, 2013. She was born in Tompkinsville Kentucky on June 18, 1926.

She was the youngest in her family and had four sisters and two brothers. All her siblings preceded her in death. Her family moved to Brookston Indiana in 1940 when she was just 14. They made the move to Indiana because there was good farm land available.

She graduated from White County High School where she was the lead actress in the Senior Play. She married Warren G. Patton in 1944. Warren passed June 25, 1976. She later married William Sims in 1980. William passed soon after.

Geneva was a housekeeper at Purdue University for nearly 10 years. She enjoyed Purdue and the college students. She relocated to Indianapolis in 1985. After relocating she was a nanny for nearly a dozen families over the years and more than 15 children. She loved children.

In 2011 she moved in with her son Dick and his wife Lila. She spent many days at Joy's House which is an adult day care facility. She loved Joy's House. After her son's passing she moved to Allisonville Meadows where she lived for just over 10 months.

Geneva was a member of Keystone Christian Church. Her son, Richard L. Patton, Sr. (Dick) preceded her in death. She is survived by her grandsons, Rick and Mark (Stacey) Patton; daughter-in-law Lila Patton; step-grandchildren Anthony (Stephanie) Erwin, Nicole (Brian) Bailey, Dani Jones; and ten grandchildren.

A grave-side memorial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery (250 SR 28) in Romney Indiana on Saturday September 28, 2013 at 1 PM. Geneva loved the time she spent at Joy's House so very, very much. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Joy's House, 2028 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46220 (www.joyshouse.org).
