George H. Batt, Jr. passed away peacefully on August 3, 2018 at home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Albion, NY on December 13, 1939 to George H. Batt, Sr. and Winifred (Kettle) Batt. He and his family lived in New York and New Jersey and finally settled in Glen Ellyn, IL, from 1972-2015. George and his wife spent the last three years in Zionsville, IN.
George started his career as a food technologist at Birds Eye. He became an accomplished sales executive working at Libby, McNeill & Libby, Thompson Industries, and Solo Cup Company. In the 1980's, he retired from the corporate world and helped his wife run her flower shop, Expressions Flower and Gifts, in Wheaton, Illinois for many years. George was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sportsman. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He was an outstanding runner in high school and college. Later in life, George took great pride watching his children and grandchildren participate in various activities. George will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, and engaging personality who always had a joke or entertaining story to tell.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Batt (Connolley); his children, David Batt, Laurie Berenschot, and Becky Culp; and nine grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Winifred Ann.
A Celebration of Life gathering in George's honor will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
