Geraldine Naughton Hurwitz,
Geri was 69 and passed away in Indianapolis on September 17, 2015. She was born in Chicago, IL to Donald and Dorothy Naughton on May 14, 1946. Geraldine graduated from St. Bernard Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse, and then went on to earn her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Nursing from the Indiana University School of Nursing. She worked as a pediatric nurse at Wishard Memorial Hospital and previously worked at San Diego Pediatric Hospital.
Geraldine was an active member of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. She served in its Sisterhood and as a Sunday School Teacher. Also, she was a member of Hadassah, a Jewish Women's Organization.
Geri was a kind and loving person who spent her life caring for others. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an older sister to seven siblings, a friend and a nurse. She loved everyone she met and brightened their days with her contagious laughter. She would tickle the children and tell funny jokes for those old enough to understand. Geri always believed that if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all, she truly lived by those words. Geri was generous with everything she possessed. She donated her time, her money and her love to all who were in need.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Hurwitz; children, Steven (Lainie) Hurwitz and Abigail Hurwitz Seif; grandchildren, Max, Isaac and Ethan Hurwitz and Solomon, Teva and Tess Seif; mother, Dorothy Naughton; brothers, Donald, Ken, Terry, and Daniel Naughton; and sisters, Lynn Morkumas and Cheryl Comstock. Geraldine was preceded in death by her father, Donald Naughton; and brother, Dennis Naughton.
Funeral services will be held at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Rd, on Monday, September 21st at 11AM. Burial will follow in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.
