Gisela Wilhelmina Trueblood, a cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 13 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 90. Born on October 25, 1933, in Lubeck, Germany, Gisela's legacy is defined by her unwavering love of family and nature.
Much of Gisela’s childhood was influenced by growing up in war-ravaged Germany and she was determined to come to the United States. Before arriving, she earned a Bachelor's degree in business administration. She worked in New York City as a governess and later moved to Indianapolis where she settled. As a teenager in Germany, she enjoyed sports and was an excellent tennis player. She took up fencing in New York City and continued playing tennis in Indianapolis. She worked in the food service industry for many years, ultimately retiring from Einstein Bagels. Gisela loved nature and taught the same to her daughters.
Gisela is survived by her beloved daughters, Christine (Robert) Pedersen and Catherine Richards; her grandchild, Chris Richards; and her beloved cat, Poo. Her family will always treasure the memories of her warmth, wisdom, and the love she imparted throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Georg Dorndorff and Elisabeth Husemann Dorndorff; and her half-brother, Kurt Trepkau. The memories of these loved ones remain a poignant part of her story, as their influence shaped the person she became.
Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched during her journey.
