Gladys Pincus,
Passed away on July 29, 2021 at her home in Indianapolis, Indiana after a short illness. She was born on March 14, 1937 in New York City to the late David Bernstein and Bertha (Klein) Bernstein. She grew up in Chatham, New Jersey but moved to Forest Hills, New York before staring high school. Gladys received a BA in English from Hunter College (New York, New York) and an MLS from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, New York). She worked as a law librarian in a corporate law department, law firms, and a criminal justice agency.
Gladys met her husband Jack who survives her at the New York Society for Ethical Culture where they were married in 1966 and embarked on incredible 55-year journey. They lived in Boston, Massachusetts, the Washington, DC area, Chicago, Illinois, the San Francisco Bay Area, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Lansing, Michigan area before moving to Indianapolis. She enjoyed the different living environments and the new friendships she made. She also traveled extensively with Jack across the US and in Europe, China, and Southeast Asia.
Gladys was an avid reader, often reading three to four books a week. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and loved fine art, visiting art museums, listening to classical music, and attending classical music concerts. She was an avid fan of the late Leonard Bernstein and cherished the opportunities she had to see him conducting live symphony concerts.
Graveside services will be held August 2, 2021 in Congregation Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery. Donations in her memory should be made to the charity of your choice.
