Gladys Rosemary Smith-Payton,

77, of Noblesville, passed away December 15, 2016. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN on October 27, 1939 to Elga and Gladys Jackson. Gladys graduated from North Side High School, where she played cornet in marching band and swam in the Ripplettes. She attended Post 47 American Legion Band and played funeral Taps through the mid 80's. Gladys attended Woodburn Missionary Church before moving to Noblesville. She was a copper wire coating supervisor for Phelps Dodge for many years.


Gladys is survived by her daughters, Janeen Wuwert and Sharry Pebley; grandchildren, Shaun Singley and Andrea Couture; great-grandchildren, Summer and Shade Singley and Jordan Couture; and brother, Paul Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Payton.



There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
