Glen A. Shelton passed in peace April 7, 2018 at the age of 80. Glen was born in Torrington, WY March 5, 1938 to George and Helen Shelton, growing up in Julesburg. He married Sharon Lynn in 1960, and together, raised 3 children.
Glen graduated 2nd in his class in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Wyoming. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the United States Army and served 3 years as a maintenance officer in California. Glen then moved his family to Decatur, IL and had a highly successful career in Training & Organizational Development/HR. Glen's leadership brought the development of a progressive management philosophy when AE Staley Mfg. opened their Lafayette, IN location. He and Sharon then moved to Ambler, PA in 1989, and finally settled down in Fishers, IN in 2011. They both truly loved spending time in their Ft Myers Beach condo.
He retired after 32 years with AE Staley Mfg and Henkel,
Glen had a lifelong love of music. In his early years, he played the French horn. He sang tenor in his church choirs, joined the Decatur Choral, and performed in numerous musicals and concerts. His 8 grandchildren were his heart and joy, and he enjoyed watching them play soccer, basketball and baseball. Glen also favored watching his beloved Wyoming Cowboys with a glass of Merlot in hand.
Fishing was a favorite past-time. Fishing trips to Canada, Wyoming, and Minnesota with family and friends were good times with entertaining stories told with regularity. Glen was quick-witted and loved to barb with the best of friends. His ability to synthesize complex issues, ferreting out what was important was admired by all.
Glen leaves behind a loving family in his wife, Sharon; children, Christine Bachmann (John) from Zionsville, IN, Bruce Shelton (Debbie) from Enid, OK, and Susan Shipley (Mark) from Wind Lake, WI; sister, Cora McClenahan, Mesa, AZ; brother, Herb Shelton, Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Steven, Curtis, Kyle, Kelly, Jacob, Maggie, Anna and Jamie; and a wonderful group of friends and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Frank and Robert.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, April 21st 2018 at Life Church, 9820 E 141st St, Fishers, IN 46038. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Life Church - Nicaraguan Mission. A visitation for family, friends, and those who've traveled from out-of-town will be at 1 pm at the chateau at Britton Falls, 15305 Trebbiano Dr, Fishers, IN 46037.
