Gloria Jean (Marschall) Zimmerman

July 16, 1937 — September 4, 2018

Gloria Jean (Marschall) Zimmerman, 81, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on September 4, 2018. She was born July 16, 1937 in Rosendale, WI where she enjoyed a happy childhood in the company of her parents and four brothers. She graduated from Rosendale High School in 1955 and attended the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.

Upon moving to Indianapolis, Gloria embarked on a 20 year career with AFNB/Bank One/Chase Bank. She began as a teller, later joining the Training and Development Department, retiring in 1996 as an Administrative Assistant.

After retirement, Gloria and her husband Rodger traveled extensively, with memorable trips to Italy and France. After Rodger's passing, Gloria found comfort and friendship in her HUGS grief support group.

Her homemaking skills were considerable; she was an accomplished baker, and was known for her beautiful and delicious pies (especially apple and Key lime). She loved a cold beer and watching the Colts, Packers and Pacers. She completed the most difficult crossword puzzles with ease. When her children were young, Gloria frequently sewed beautiful clothes for them, especially for holiday celebrations.

Gloria's quiet intelligence was neither boastful nor bragging. Like her brothers, she took pride in her family's roots and spoke fondly of her childhood and hometown of Rosendale. Gloria cherished time with her family during the Marschall's annual vacation at Silver Lake in Wautoma, WI. Her beautiful smile and lovely disposition will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodger O. Zimmerman, to whom she was happily married for 52 years, and brothers Gordon, Charles and James. Gloria is survived by her children Steven, Robert (Karen) and Andrea; grandchildren Madalina and Alexandru, and brother Donald Marschall. She will be missed by many wonderful nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law (Carol Marschall, Susan Marschall) plus lifelong friends Joan Fude and Deanna Lane. Gloria was adored by her special "grand-doggies."

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the caring staff and residents of Hooverwood. We also would like to acknowledge the love and support of long time dear friends Joe Cutrell and Tim Dunigan, who became family as the years passed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1:30pm, with visitation beginning at 12:30pm, at Unitarian Universalist Church West in Brookfield, WI. Memorial contributions may be made in Gloria's name to The Rosendale Historical Society or The Hooverwood Guild.
