Greg Leary,
61, passed away November 4, 2018. He leaves behind his much-loved wife of 23 years, Angie (Epler) Leary and his proudest accomplishments, sons, Keenan and Quinn. He is also survived by siblings, Mark Leary, Denise (Mike) Elder and Dara (Greg) Delong; numerous nieces, nephews and an extended family of dear friends - along with numerous incomplete household projects.
After graduating Beech Grove High School, Greg worked a series of jobs: selling carpet, plumbing supplies, and making hot dogs. But he will be remembered for his long career as an Air Traffic Controller, where his skill and professionalism were only exceeded by his card-playing mastery and barbed one-liners. Greg made his workplace more enjoyable for all.
Greg loved coaching Keenan and Quinn's Little League Baseball teams, vacationing with family or friends, golfing and reading conservative books (fueled by his unrequited love affair with Ann Coulter). He was a self-taught master of obscure trivia, horror films, and political debate. Greg always credited a miss-spent youth for giving him a well-trained eye for billiards and darts. And though his clubs didn't always survive in one piece, Greg was an avid and skilled golfer. Greg was larger than life and loved by all.
Visitation will be held at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Rd, on Wednesday, November 7th from 4 - 7 PM.
A memorial celebration, which Greg will certainly regret missing, will be Saturday, November 17th at 6 PM at the home of Scott and Amy Wagner. All are invited to share stories, drinks and time together with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time with your children, play a game with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Greg would wish for you.
"He worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay. It was his true medium; a master." - A Christmas Story
