Gregory Kelleher

Gregory Kelleher 67, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died Thursday, May 29, 2014. The eldest of 12 siblings, he was born January 12, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Ethel and David Kelleher. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Chicago where he also studied philosophy. After an early career in chemical engineering and computer sciences in Chicago, Greg moved to Indianapolis where he became a Founding Principal of HealthCare Options, Inc. and later served as CIO of IU Medical Group Primary Care. He contributed considerable time to the IU-sponsored AMPATH global health program in Kenya. He was never happier than when helping others and had a smile that warmed hearts. He was thoughtful and inventive and his lifelong interests included philosophy, travel, information technology and gadgets. He was a natural athlete who pole-vaulted, wrestled, played badminton and squash, and with his wife, Lisa, rode throughout Europe on a tandem. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Harris, MD, and eight siblings; Dave, Dan, Gail, Ann, Oliver, Tim, Matt, and Kathy. A reception to celebrate Greg's life will be held on Thursday, June 5 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Indianapolis Museum of Art Lilly House Gardens, weather permitting. Deer-Zink Pavilion if inclement weather. Memorial gifts may be made to the IU-Kenya AMPATH Humanitarian Fund.
