Gregory Anthony Sinise

March 2, 1951 — May 11, 2021

Carmel

Gregory Anthony Sinise w as born into a proud Italian family on March 2, 1951 in Blue Island, Illinois to Joseph and Claire Sinise. He was their only child. He was preceded in death by his father (January 4, 1972) and his mother (September 1, 2013). He is survived by his partner, Nancy Buss; and his children, Joseph and Laura.  While not initially a pet person, he is also survived by Joe’s dog Ollie, who he loved dearly.

Greg, who moved to Indianapolis after proudly attending Purdue University moved to the Indianapolis area in 1974, was a father and partner first and foremost. He enjoyed a diverse and successful career working in banking, at Eli Lilly, as a Principal at Ernst & Young, followed by numerous other senior roles prior to starting his own venture capital firm and consulting practice.

Never to let grass grow under his feet, he invested his time in sharing his firm Catholic beliefs by teaching Sunday School for 20 years.  St. Monica Bowling league was also a great passion, for which he founded and ran for 25 years.  In addition, he found great joy in his non-stop volunteer work of advising his fraternity since 1974 and his son’s fraternity since 2014.  He also gave to Purdue by serving on the Student Life Advisory Council as well as FSCL Advisory Board.  When he was able to find time to relax, his passion was Purdue sports as he had non-stop season football and basketball tickets since he graduated.  He was an avid golfer and loved to travel.  One of his favorite times of year was May where he hosted an Indy 500 party for over 20 years in a row.

A strong-willed man, you never had to ask where you stood, but he was motivated by kindness, love and affection and wanted to always make others happy. There are those who have said that he probably has already asked God to run his bowling league!

The wake will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church, 6131 N. Michigan Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46228 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on May 14, 2021, followed directly by a Funeral Mass. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the John Purdue Club in his son Joseph’s name, Mackey Arena, Room 2200, 900 John R. Wooden Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47907 or St. Monica Catholic Church .

From the family:

Matthew 6:3-4

“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Please share your best memory of when God worked through my father with you or just your favorite memory of him via a recorded video.

These will be kept private to only Nancy & Myself, to give us another chance to learn about my Dad.
