Gwendolyn Rae Stancombe passed peacefully in the arms of her loving parents on October 4, 2021. Gwendolyn Rae was born on September 10, 2020. During her short, sweet time here on earth, she taught everyone who knew her what strength she had and how her tenacity and strong-will made her the toughest little fighter. She worked so hard to stay here with her family but God had bigger plans for her. Gwen's life was a bittersweet gift to all of us that will live on in our hearts, words and actions forever.
She was surrounded by and gave nothing but love to her parents. Anyone who met her was blessed to be in her presence, because she was the perfect Angel.
Gwendolyn Rae is the daughter of Nicholas and Stephanie Stancombe, of Carmel, Indiana. Gwendolyn Rae is survived by her maternal grandparents, George and Mary Simopoulos of Noblesville, IN; paternal grandparents, Brad and Sonia Stancombe of South Bend, IN; maternal great-grandmother, Joan Dunbar also of South Bend, IN; and paternal great-grandmother, Mary Stancombe. She is also survived by her three aunts, Alexandria Simopoulos, Liana Simopoulos and Mary Stancombe. She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Nicholas and Athena Simopoulos, and Harold and Betty Nicol; and her paternal great-grandfather, Raymond Stancombe.
A Note From Gwen's Parents: We have so many wonderful memories with our sweet Gwen but our most treasured was the day she was baptized at St. Elizabeth Seton on April 11th, 2021. Gwen’s favorite story was “Don’t Give Up”. The story tells of a little rabbit that never gave up trying to hop. Gwen was our sweet little rabbit or “funny bunny,” and never gave up fighting to stay here with us. We’ll honor her by living up to that story’s passage each day.
“Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength”.
-Ecclesiastes 9:10-
Funeral services will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton, 10655 Haverstick Rd, Carmel, Indiana 46033, at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 7, 2021.
“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”
~Amen~
