Harinder Krishan Palta, 76 of Carmel, Indiana passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019. He was born in Chandigarh, India to Raghubir & Amra Vati Palta on October 25, 1942 and was educated at Chandigarh University, graduating in 1972 with a PhD in Botanical Sciences.
In 1973 he married the love of his life, Asha Mehra Palta, daughter of his favorite professor. After immigrating to America in 1975, they started a family in New York, moving some years later to California and then Wisconsin before settling in Indiana in 1998. Harinder had an incredible passion for plants, flowers and all things that grow, with his research published regularly in international academic botanical publications.Harinder was a caring and loving husband, father, and brother. He enjoyed gardening (both professionally and at his home), cooking Indian food, hiking, and posting botanically-related items to his Pinterest.
Harinder is survived by his wife Asha, his sons Rohit, Rahul and Sanjay, his brothers Narinder, Ravinder, Rajinder and sisters Suniti, Divya, Indu and more than a dozen nephews and nieces.
