Hilda Nickles

Hilda Letsinger Nickles, 96, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 24, 2019. She was born June 1, 1923 in Bloomfield, IN to Leo Cushman Letsinger and Mary (Faucett) Letsinger.

Hilda worked for Allison Division of General Motors in the Records Department, and for Speedway Public Schools. She was a member of Tri Kappa Service Sorority, and was also active at Speedway Christian Church, Speedway, IN, and First Presbyterian Church, Greenwood, SC.

Hilda was very devoted to her family, and loved cooking. She also enjoyed reading and playing bridge.

She was preceded by her beloved husband of 69 years, Lawrence Henry Nickles; her sisters, Gretchen Letsinger Huffman and Ellen Letsinger Emminger; and her brother, James K. Letsinger.

She is survived by her children, Lawrence Henry “Hank” Nickles, Jr and wife Jane Anne Schwartz, Steven Ashton Nickles and wife Deborah Lee Phelps, and Donna Nickles McCain and husband William Bruce McCain. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kristina, Blake, Abbey, Courtney, Nick, Hillary, and Sam; and nine great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held for both Hilda and Larry at 11 am on August 31, 2019, at Speedway Christian Church, Speedway, IN. Friends are welcome to visit from 10:15 am until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hilda’s memory may be made to Speedway Christian Church.
