Homer Leon Godby, Jr.,
87 of Westfield, passed away February 14, 2017. He was born in Yale, OK to Homer Godby, Sr. and Justine Alberson Godby. Homer was a 1949 graduate of Westfield High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree. Homer was very active in his youth, becoming an Eagle Scout and playing basketball and football. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a flight engineer and played football for the AF National Champions.
Throughout his work career, Homer's architecture and design expertise were used for such projects as the Indianapolis Zoo and Colts Complex. He also pioneered the home inspection industry in Indiana.
Homer will always be remembered as a person who faced life's obstacles head-on and as a great entrepreneur of his time.
He is survived by his children, Anne-Marie (Roy) Hoffman, Linda Godby-Dugger, Daniel Godby, and Jacqueline (Steve) DeArmond; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Neiman, Paul Godby, James Godby and Dwight Godby; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife and caregiver, Ghislaine Godby. Homer was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Godby.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 2:30 PM in A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Rd., Zionsville, IN 46077. Friends are invited from 1 - 4 PM for visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital or the Hamilton County Humane Society.
