Jack L. Hummel

93, Indianapolis passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov 30th. Born and raised in Marion Indiana to the late Lawrence and Reba Hummel. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy (Steck) Hummel, son Jeff (Gloria) Hummel, Daughter, Jerri Ann (Joe) Kramer, Stepson Robert (Melanie) Griffin, Sister Barbara, 6 gran-children, 11 great gran-children and 4 great great gran-children. He is preceded in death by 2 daughters, Jill Wilkerson and Jackie Miller (Dave McReynolds).

After graduating high school he served in the Marine Corps then spent many years as a Deputy Sheriff with the Marion County Sheriff's Dept as well as a fireman for several area townships. He spent 30 years as manager of Indianapolis Boat Co retiring in 1995.

Jack and Dorothy enjoyed many wonderful years together traveling the country in their motor home and particularly loved the western states. They also enjoyed spending winters in Florida where Jack loved to fish. Jack also enjoyed tinkering and loved to build and create things. They enjoyed restoring a 100 year old log cabin in Nashville where they spent time walking in the woods and bird watching.

In place of funeral services, a celebration of life was held.
