Jacob Kander,
89, of Bloomington, passed away March 2, 2016. He was born August 17, 1926 in Huffenhardt, Germany to the late Leopold and Adelheid (Kaufman) Kander. Having immigrated to Palestine in 1937, he subsequently served in the Israeli Air Force and later as a flight engineer for El Al Israel Airlines. He lived in South Africa for a number of years before immigrating to the United States in 1992.
Jacob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tamar Kander and Jamas Brooke of Brown County, IN; his son and daughter-in-law, Nadav and Nicole Kander of London, England; his former wife, Jenny Kander of Bloomington, IN; one grandson, Oren; and two granddaughters, Ella and Natalia Kander, all of London, England; nephews, Ilan and Roi Kander; and a niece, Pnina Kander of Raanana, Israel. A brother, Zvi Kander, and his wife Cecilia Kander, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at White Oak Cemetery, 1200 W. 7th St., Bloomington, IN.
