Jacqueline Anne "Jaqui" Jacobs

June 10, 1941 — March 29, 2019

Jacqueline "Jaqui" Anne Jacobs (née Milne)

Born in Chicago in 1941 to the late Gloria "Bonnie Jo" (née Bunting) & Robert E. Milne, Jaqui grew up in Steamboat Springs and Denver, Colorado. A graduate of Denver South High School (1959), she moved back to Chicago and then on to New York City where she married Ross Heiney at the United Nations Chapel in 1967.

Jaqui raised her two children in New York City, NY; Scottsdale, AZ; Laingsburg, MI; and Indianapolis, IN where she became a long-time resident in the Broad Ripple area. After becoming reacquainted, Jaqui married her high school sweetheart, Gary Lou Jacobs, in 1993. The pair relocated to North Olmstead, Ohio, then Newark, New Jersey before retiring to Aztec, New Mexico where they lived eighteen of their happiest years together.

Jaqui was a celebrated artist having created The Bloomin' Loom, her own woven arts business, which became a well-known fixture on the Michigan summer arts festival circuit during the 1980's. She and Gary together worked for eight years in the Termar Trends Gallery in Durango, Colorado and created Contented Hands, an arts and crafts business that included teaching. Jaqui shared a passion for art with everyone who came in contact with her. She was highly regarded for her loving attention to the many students she taught, her magnificent bead work, paper-making, pottery and her uniquely beautiful greeting cards many of which were adorned with photographs taken by both Jaqui and Gary.

After losing her beloved Gary two years prior, Jaqui moved from Aztec back to Indianapolis in late 2015 to be closer to her daughter, Stacia. Stacia lovingly doted over and cared for Jaqui through the complex medical conditions that accompanied her later years.

Jaqui is survived by her loving son, Ross Heiney II (Krista Woodley) of Boston, MA.; daughter, Stacia (Hal) Yeager of Indianapolis; maternal aunt, Joy Patricia (Bunting) Walt of San Clemente, CA.; cousin, Lissa (Walt) Miller of St. Helena, CA., and family; Robin (Michael) Brennan, Matt (Michelle) Miller, and grandchildren, Maya, Makenna, Jake and Christopher; and extended family; step-sister, Sharon Jacobs of Denver, CO., step-daughter, Cheryl Hansford and granddaughters, Brittany Hansford, Michelle (Matthew) Hightower, and step-daughter, Camelle (Joel) Liittschwager and their son, Colton, of Orlando, FL.
