James E. Davis, Jr.,
85, of Indianapolis, passed away September 10, 2014. Born May 29, 1929, Chicago, IL, son of James and Isabel Davis, he was a graduate of Thornton Township HS in Harvey, IL. He received his BA and MA degrees from Indiana University. He served as a medical corpsman in the Korean War.
Jim married Judy J. Dittbrenner in 1954. Mr. Davis was employed by RCA for 14 years and in 1970 purchased The Benham-Pray Co., which he ran for 40 years. He was active in the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Optimists, Columbia Club, Toastmasters, Economic Club, and the Massachusetts Ave. Business Development Assoc.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy; sister, Jean Adams of Lake Village, IN; son, Eric Davis of Oak Park, IL; daughter, Emily Norris of Zionsville; and five wonderful grandchildren.
Calling will be Wednesday, September 17, 2-5 PM, Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy or the Indiana University Scholarship Fund.
