James Alden Davis Jr (Jim), 77, of Colfax, Indiana, passed away on October 23, 2024. Born on March 28, 1947, to James A. and Maxine Hayes Davis, Jim lived a life marked by his love for music and quiet devotion to his faith.
Jim is survived by his daughters Stephanie Kerns (husband Jerry), Lanie Davis, Grace Cook (husband Tony), and Stacey Hoover (husband Jason); his brother Daniel Davis (wife Brenda); his sister Deborah Davis; and his grandchildren Jessica Dickerson (husband Michael), Jordan Davis (wife Michaela), Jay VanLue (wife Baily), Kayla Blubaugh (husband Tim), Jack Ferrell, Aubrey Williams, and Dylan Ferrell. He is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Eva Davis, his parents, James and Maxine Davis, and his nephews, Jonathan T. Kauffman and Daniel Davis, Jr.
Jim grew up in Colfax, Indiana, where he and his brother, Dan, often spent time fishing at Sugar Creek and exploring the family farm. Jim graduated class of 1965 from Clinton Prairie High School in Frankfort, Indiana, where he played the Baritone for 4 years in the band. Jim also played football, embracing his lifelong love of sports. After high school, Jim went on to attend Indiana State University and later retired from Carrier in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Known for his love of cars and a penchant for speed, Jim also enjoyed lifting weights. He instilled in his daughters the importance of faith, often encouraging them to read their Bibles. A man of deep conviction, Jim could quote scripture effortlessly and recite all the books of the Bible in one breath, a testament to his devotion.
A long-time resident of Danville, Indiana, Jim was a member of the Christadelphian Ecclesia in Avon, Indiana, where he found peace and purpose in playing the piano for his church family.
A funeral service to honor Jim’s life will be held at 1PM on November 1, 2024, at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary at 11411 N Michigan Rd Zionsville, Indiana, officiated by his oldest and dearest friend, Dean Brown. To view the livestream, click here.
Burial will follow in Colfax, Indiana, where Jim will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Angelina, in a private family service.
Jim will be remembered for his deep faith, and the music that brought comfort to him and those who heard it. His memory will live on through the lives he touched.
