James Mitchell Gunn

Jim Gunn, age 64, of Zionsville, passed away on December 21, 2016 at IU Health North in Carmel following a battle with cancer.

Jim was born October 15, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Harry W. Gunn Jr. and Jean (Mitchell) Gunn. He married his wife, Jenny Johnson on October 11, 1986 in Indianapolis.

Jim was self-employed at his architectural design firm, J. M. Gunn & Co. and designed beautiful homes for many builders and private homeowners in the surrounding area for over 30 years.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jenny; their daughter, Darcy, & two brothers, Hank (Darla) & Tim. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Mary Johnson; sisters-in-law, Roxanne Perry, Jane (Bob) Armstrong; brothers-in-law, Tom, Steve, Pat (Becky) & Mike Johnson; nieces & nephews, Katy (Ryan), Karen (Zeke), Adam, Mitchel, Elaina, Kevin (Sophie), Kyle (Karah), Kelly, Katie, Jonathan, Newman (Cherish), Cory, Sarah, Jane, Elizabeth, Zoe, Drew and Nicole; and Ben & Luke Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jean (2013) & Harry W. Gunn, Jr. (1960).

Jim was a dedicated family man who loved playing the guitar, reading, woodworking, and riding his motorcycle. His creative talent flowed into beautiful designs for custom homes and he took great joy in providing a place for families to enjoy their lives. His kind heart and gentle spirit will be dearly missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Zionsville United Methodist Church at 9466 Whitestown Road, Zionsville on January 6th at 4:30 p.m., service at 6:00 p.m.
