James was born on April 19, 1947 to James Willard and Genevieve (Scepkowski) Sorrell in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a 1965 graduate of Maryvale High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Following his graduation from high school, James enlisted in the Army and proudly served for six years during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
James retired from Key Plastics in Hartford City in 2009. He was known for a strong love of music and drag racing.
James is survived by his beloved family; his daughter Angela Lance (husband Michael); grandchildren, Averi and Greyson; sisters Pat Sutton and Sharon Sorrell; brother-in-law Don Ziegler; nieces, Michelle Leggitt and Lauren Johnson and a nephew, Donnie Ziegler.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Susan Ziegler and brother-in-law, Wade Sutton.
