Mimi passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of September 26th at St. Vincent Home Health & Hospice. She was surrounded and supported by loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Mimi was born on June 3, 1992 at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Mimi was one of a kind! Mimi was not just your average young woman. You see, Mimi was very unique because she was born with a Blood Disorder called Sickle Cell Beta Thalassemia Disease. Sickle Beta Thalassemia is an inherited condition that affects hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to different parts of the body. It is a type of sickle cell disease.
When Mimi was 7 days old, her parents learned she had Sickle Cell Beta Thalassemia. Mimi began having issues with this blood disease at the young age of 4 months. Mimi didn't have a crisis that severe for some time after that and she was able to enjoy life as a baby blossoming into a toddler then to a school girl. Mimi was so smart for her age that one teacher wanted to skip her grade. Before Mimi got the opportunity to skip a grade, she suddenly became critically ill on May 24, 1999 which was the start of her biggest struggles with her health until she departed from us on September 26, 2019.
Mimi was such a Warrior that she would beat the odds every time. She was indeed a Miracle! Mimi and her family was blessed by the Make A Wish Foundation in September 2 -10, 2001 with a trip to Hawaii - her dream. Mimi was a child/adult with special needs but that didn't stop her from achieving and receiving her high school diploma in 2012.
Mimi loved The Creator with all her heart and her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 100. YHWH gave her a beautiful spirit like no other. On Thursday, September 26, 2019, YHWH {GOD} decided to return His daughter to take her peaceful rest so she no longer has to endure such sicknesses and distress.
Mimi's legacy and strong, warrior, beautiful spirit is left with her father, Jamie Davis Sr. "Dawa Neter" and her mother, Anquenette Y. Maggard "Chanah Lewi"; her siblings, Dominique L. Maggard "Yochanon Ben Yisrael", Jamie Davis Jr. "ObeYah Ben Yisrael", Yosiah, Aaliyah, Geeyahnah, and Nzingha; grandfather, Fred Madden Sr. (Robin); grandmothers, Bertha Davis, Lena Longs (Quinn preceded in death); special great-great aunt, Alleyne Burton; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and caregivers. Mimi was also preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jimmie Davis and Quinn Longs; and grandmother, Shirley Jean Maggard. If we missed anyone please accept our sincere apology.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 2 PM at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 North Michigan Rd., Zionsville, IN 46077. Burial will follow in Little Eagle Creek Cemetery.
