Janice Faye Wagner, 85, passed away peacefully at IU Hospital North surrounded by her daughters on November 7, 2023, after a brief illness.
She was born in 1938 to Evelyn and Vernice Conner in Indianapolis IN. She spent much of her formative years growing up in Darlington IN.
Janice married her late husband, Douglas, in 1977. They both enjoyed travel and were able to enjoy seeing many beautiful parts of the world. Early in their marriage, they were avid sailors at the Indianapolis Sailing Club. Their later travels were typically enjoyed on board a cruise ship.
Volunteering at the Cheer Guild at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis was a passion for Janice. She held a variety of roles here including leadership. She spent approximately 40 years raising funds for the guild and procuring gifts and toys for the children to enjoy.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Amy Stewart and Sara (Don) Warner. She is also survived by Doug’s children, Craig (Tammy) Wagner and Dawn (Mark) Shannon. Grandchildren Kristen (Kevin) Moore, Jon (Annemarie) Humphress, Jacqueline (Jacob) Humphress, Sean Wagner, Jeffrey Wagner, Nathan Wagner, Sydney and Ellie Mow, as well as four great-grandchildren. Janice's son, Rob Stewart, and husband, Douglas preceded her in death.
The family would like to acknowledge the relentless and compassionate care provided to Janice in her final days at IU North by Jenny Xu, MD.
Janice will rejoin her husband at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood IN. There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
