Jean Somes passed away on April 25, 2016 in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on October 4, 1927 in Hancock County Indiana. She was the third daughter of William George Rader and Helen Marie Lichtenberg Rader Hudson. Jean and her sisters, Betty and June, grew up on the family farm in Hancock County.
Jean was the valedictorian of New Palestine High School's class of 1944. She worked at Traveller's Insurance and Eli Lilly before marrying Donald Eugene Somes at Mckee Chapel in Indianapolis in 1949. Don preceded her in death in 1989. Jean loved traveling the world and playing golf.
Jean was a loving mother to their four daughters who survive her: Claudia Jean Somes, MD (Barney Quinn) of Carmel, Karen (Kent) Adams of Carmel, Barbara Somes of Carmel, and Kristi Somes (Ross Tabor) of Seymour, Indiana. Jean is also survived by 5 fine grandchildren: Andrew and Zach Adams of Carmel, Matt Kloss of Bloomington, Charlotte Quinn of Indianapolis, and Mary Clare Quinn of Cincinnati.
