John Jay Boyce of Indianapolis passed away on September 10, 2022. Born on February 19, 1952, he grew up in Coshocton County, Ohio where he honed his love of motorcycles on the family farm.
At age 20, he married B. Jeanene Boyce (Klea). She was the love of his life and they shared fifty years together. Their only child, Solomon Boyce, daughter-in-law, Amanda Boyce (Pullium), and John’s two young grandchildren, Tillo and Aldus Boyce, brought John much joy and were the center of his life.
He studied Law at IU Indianapolis. Upon passing the bar in 1989, he was an attorney at Indiana Legal Services. John served the Indiana Department of Family and Children in several positions between 1980 and 2003. He went on to preside as Judge in the LaGrange County Circuit Court. Most recently, he worked as a Criminal Magistrate for the Marion Superior Court.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Edith Louise Boyce (Nethers); as well as his siblings Helen Morris (Boyce), Jack Boyce, and James Boyce.
A family visitation will be held at First Mennonite Church, 4601 Knollton Road, Indianapolis, IN, on September 17 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Throughout his life, John was a gentle, patient, and loving force. In his memory and in lieu of flowers, the family asks you to be present and patient to all humankind.
