John Theodore Keil,
68, of Indianapolis, passed away July 28, 2024. He was born in La Porte, Indiana to the late Hylmar and Doris Keil on September 3, 1955.
John studied mathematics and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in 1993. He enjoyed a long career as a CAD developer and technician, computer programmer, and civil engineering technician. John was also a contract software developer for numerous companies.
John was an avid science fiction fan. He loved Star Trek and Star Wars. He always had a book in his hands. He was an avidly curious reader who loved playing chess. He loved Star-gazing and trips to Lake Michigan. He also enjoyed model railroads.
He is survived by his sisters, Nancy B. Keil and Julieann Taylor (Todd), brother James Keil, and stepdaughter, Lee Sider. John was preceded in death earlier this year by his longtime partner, Diana EtsHokin. He leaves behind two nieces, two nephews, five grandnieces and one grandnephew.
John will be remembered for his keen intellect, quick wit, and gentle spirit. His colleagues respected him and his family and friends loved him.
The family will be holding private services.
Memorial contributions may be made to local animal shelters of choice, and to The American Heart Association.
