John C. McLaughlin

John Calvin McLaughlin, 81, Indianapolis, IN, died on Monday, May 29th at Carmel Health and Living. He was born in Cleveland, OH to Dr. C.P. and Janet (Guisinger) McLaughlin, who precede him in death. Raised in Pendleton, IN, he graduated from Pendleton High School in 1959. He earned degrees from Notre Dame University, BA 1963; Ball State University, MA 1968; and Indiana University, JD 1972. In 1964, he married Germaine (Riffe) McLaughlin in Anderson, IN (later divorced). In 1997, he married Mary (Leggett Morriss) McLaughlin in Indianapolis, IN. He also previously resided in Anderson and Monticello, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, James (Harriett) McLaughlin of Clearwater, FL; four children and stepdaughter, Michelle (Robert) Dearing of West Lafayette, IN, John P. (Karen) McLaughlin of Memphis, TN, Heather (Noel) Lephart of Pendleton, IN, James (Christy) McLaughlin of Lafayette, IN and Tricia (Christopher) Wampler of Fairland, IN; grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren, Julia Dearing of Dallas, TX, Robert “Bobby” Dearing of West Lafayette, IN, Gillian and Jerod Lephart of Pendleton, IN,  Anna and John "Jack" McLaughlin of Memphis, TN, Elizabeth “Lizzy” and Evan McLaughlin of Lafayette, IN, Tyler Bishop of New York, NY, Marissa Bishop and Alaina Travis of Fortville, IN, and Bryanna and Elizabeth Wampler of Greensburg, IN.

John was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Parish, Speedway, IN. There will be a funeral Mass at St. Christopher at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8th, 2023 with one hour of visitation just prior beginning at 10 a.m.
