Jordan Diedrich Minnigan,
20, of Zionsville, died March 27, 2016. He was born March 4, 1996 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Jane Diedrich and Hal Minnigan.
He attended Union Elementary School, Zionsville Middle School, and graduated from Zionsville High School in 2014. In high school, he was a member of the Zionsville High School Jazz Band, and the Steel Eagles Robotics Club, competing at the Vex World Robotics Championship in Anaheim CA in April of 2014. He attended IUPUI and completed his first year in engineering school in 2015.
Jordan was an independent, adventurous child, who always smiled, and enjoyed anything new. He loved nature and spending time outdoors. Jordan loved his alone time. He also was very dedicated to his family. Jordan had a deep curiosity about mechanical things, and was just as likely to take apart a toy as play with it. He had a thirst for knowledge and never felt as comfortable with traditional classroom education as he did talking to adults, or learning by doing. As a teenager, he was very observant and sensitive to so much around him. He took global issues of ecology and sustainability to heart, and cared deeply about the future of the planet. He worried about overpopulation, deforestation, climate change and the increasing challenge of feeding a growing world. He saw injustice and struggled to understand it.
He loved to bicycle and grow hydroponic vegetables. He was passionate about computer science, nature, cars, and above all robotics, always adding to his list of new things to investigate.
He ran his own lawn care business, and worked at the Zion Nature Center. He had a great love of domestic and wild animals, and to his family he was "The Chicken Whisperer".
He fought against anxiety, depression, and an eating disorder for the last 6 years of his short life. He will be remembered as a beautiful man who put others first, and in the end was unable to see his own amazing worth.
He is survived by his parents, Jane Frances Diedrich and Hal Jordan Minnigan; twin sister, Sadie Diedrich Minnigan of Zionsville; grandparents, Yvonne and Arthur Diedrich of Avon, Minnesota, and Richard D. "Don" Minnigan of Nashville, Tennessee; seven aunts and uncles, Glenn (Deb) Diedrich of Avon, MN, Diane (Dan) Zimmermann of Avon, MN, Jim (LeeAnn) Diedrich of Woodbury, MN, Teresa Kramer of Prior Lake, MN, Bonnie Diedrich Singh of Falcon Heights, MN, Ann (Bruce) Meredith of Avon MN, and David Minnigan (Lisa) of Brentwood, TN; and 17 cousins, Natalie (Wes) Trevis, Amelia (Josh) Koch, Patrick Diedrich, Andrew Diedrich, Aerin (Jessica) Zimmermann, Thomas (Candice) Zimmermann, Alyssa (Clint) Black, Alexa Diedrich, Cerise Diedrich, Kim (Matt) Meyer, Andrea (Nick) Sodahl, Lauren Meredith, Jenna Meredith, Jake Meredith, Bradley (Jessie) Minnigan, Leigh (Francisco) Valdes and Ryan Minnigan.
