Joseph Edward "Joe" Fyffe
November 17, 1942 - August 19, 2018
Born in Illinois, Joe was the youngest son of Chester and Geneva Simons Fyffe. He is preceded in death by his parents and his two older brothers, Robert and John, and their wives.
Joe's greatest passion was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Charlotte "Charlie" Fyffe; his children Linda Kennedy (Michael Kennedy), Andrea Roush (Forrest Roush), Melissa Wilcox (Steven Wilcox), and John Kempf; his grandchildren Brandon Fyffe, Amanda Buis, Erin Buis, Alison Roush, Aaron Roush, Elizabeth McKinney, Cassie Wilcox, and Alex Kempf; his nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a K-9 officer and as a crime scene investigator, Joe served his community as a member of the Indianapolis Police Department for 29 years, retiring in 1998. After his retirement, Joe continued to train police officers around the United States in evidence technology and forensic evidence gathering. His passion for evidence technology and for teaching these skills to other officers helped bring a good many criminals to justice. He will be missed by his brothers and sisters in blue.
Over the course of his lifetime, Joe had several hobbies and passions. As a younger man he enjoyed sky diving, scuba diving, riding motorcycles and photography. He loved vacations with his family and playing his guitar. Most recently, Joe could be found in his shop turning wood into beautiful gifts for family and friends.
Joe was a Christian man and a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 86.
