Joseph (Joe) Smith 89 yrs. of Indianapolis passed away Saturday, May 23rd at his residence. Born in Indianapolis August 30, 1925 to Louis and Ethel Safrin Smith, Joe grew up in Noblesville, In. He graduated from Noblesville High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWll. After he was honorably discharged from the army in 1945, he returned home and went to work with his father in the family business. They owned and operated Louis Smith and Son, a scrap metal company in Noblesville, now re-named Lusco Corporation, where he served as President for many years. Joe worked there his entire life. He was a member of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, Beth-El Zedeck Men's Club and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Klein Smith; daughter, Marla Schneider; son, Karl (Ilene ) Smith; and grandchildren, Andrea and Jason Schneider, and Gabriella R. Smith.
Funeral Services will be at Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, 600 West 70th Street in Indianapolis at 2:00 PM, Tuesday the 26th of May.
Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth-El Zedeck in memory of Joe. Arrangements entrusted to Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary.
The family will hold a minyon at Karl and Ilene's residence, 1785 Milford Street (Village of West Clay), at 5:45 PM on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
