Joyce Isaacs
90 years of age, beloved educator and friend, passed away April 10, 2013. Joyce was born in Hull, Iowa to Nicholas Vander Kooi and Effie Werkman Vander Kooi on August 4, 1922. She received her BA from Central College in Pella, Iowa and her Masters degree in Counseling from Ball State University.
Joyce spent many years in Connersville, IN as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Connersville School System. She was a long time 4-H Leader in Fayette County and very active in Adult Education. She later moved to Indianapolis where she became a realtor and lead spiritual growth classes. Joyce was co-owner of Isaacs Kauffman floatation healing center for 9 years, from 1983-1992.
Joyce is survived by her loving family, her children; Marilene Isaacs, Dwayne (Amy) Isaacs; daughter in law, Teresa Isaacs; siblings, Kenneth Vander Kooi, Lois Lubbers and Sylvia Romberg; grandchildren; Stephanie Isaacs Schroeder, Merlin Kauffman, Eli Isaacs, Evan Isaacs, Lexie Isaacs, Alex Isaacs and Seth Isaacs. Joyce's son Darrel Isaacs and her former husband James Boyd Isaacs preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road at 5:30 PM. Visitation will be held from 2 PM until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
