Kenneth Lessie (aka Poppy),
returned to his heavenly home on February 27th, 2018. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his long struggle with his illness and ultimately gave him peace.
He was born to Jack and Edith Lessie in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on July 18, 1942. He moved to the United States at age 5 and became a citizen. He attended Manchester College and Valparaiso University School of Law. After completion of his education, he went on to own and operate a State Farm agency in Northwest Indiana.
He was married in 1962 to his high school sweetheart, Sharon Maskovich and they had two daughters together. They were married for 50 years when Sharon was taken into Gods kingdom. He missed her greatly and longed for the day they would be reunited again.
Kenneth was a devoted IU basketball fan, and in his free time loved to garden, bird watch and raise and breed his pedigree Miniature schnauzer show dogs. His family was always his focus. He was a modern father when it wasn't fashionable to be one, always participating in every possible activity with his girls.
He continued his love for his family when his two granddaughters came along. He was always running them everywhere and being a very present grandfather in their lives. He even volunteered at the private school they attended.
He will be sorrowfully missed by his mother, Edith Lessie of Thayer, IN; his two daughters, Jennifer Lessie-Green (Edwin) of Carmel, IN, and Kimberly Lessie-Donaldson (Charles) of Carmel, IN; his brother, Lawrence Lessie (Kelli) of San Diego, CA; and his two granddaughters, Emily Cardwell (Nathan) of Indianapolis, IN and Sarah Donaldson of Carmel, IN.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sharon; his father, Jack Lessie; and his granddaughter, Sydney Donaldson.
A memorial service will be held at Traders Point Christian Church North Campus in Carmel, IN on March 18, 2018 at 2 PM.
