Khyati "Sonal" Pravin Desai

Khyati Desai, affectionately known to all as Sonal Desai, was born in May 4th, 1983 in Surat, India. She has called the US home since 1992, and has been a resident in Plainfield, Indiana for many years, forming a tightly-knit and loving community through her friendship. She studied at Indiana University, graduating in 2005. Over her successful career, she keenly managed the family business for over 15 years, establishing a wide reputation for service and excellence within her community.

She was fond of photography, never missing a chance to capture her loved ones in motion. She loved to bake and capture beauty and art through food. She was an avid enjoyer of travel and found joy in any new place or situation. She never met a situation she couldn’t solve through the brightness of her humor or the brilliance of her attitude. Without hesitating, she delved into new opportunities with passion. She was well known for her kindness, for her infectious energy, and for the lengths she strove to boundlessly support and care for those around her.  Sonal was a person who brought light into any situation, injecting new perspective into any challenging condition. Her outlook, energy, and determination were her trademarks; she approached every new change in life with refreshing humor and endless optimism.

She is survived by her precious parents Deepika Desai and Paresh Desai, who loved her dearly, for whom she was the greatest support and dearest gift. She will be remembered keenly by her loving aunts and uncles. She is dearly missed by her cousins, who relied on her cheer and spirit. She is also keenly missed by her nieces and nephews, who she treated with immense love, care, and kindness. She has formed a community of friends in Plainfield, to whom she was a dear companion and source of strength and joy.

Her private service will be held at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, 11411 N. Michigan Road, 46077; on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 between 11 AM and 2 PM.
