Kirk "Toot" Kuetemeier
65, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away October 9, 2018 surrounded by family. He was born July 17, 1953 in Indianapolis to the late Carl Morgan Kuetemeier and Marilyn Bernice (Wilson) Kuetemeier. Kirk was a 1971 graduate of Warren Central High School and attended Ivy Tech Community College.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Guin (Hicks) Kuetemeier; two children from a previous marriage, Greg (Sarah) Kuetemeier of Salem, VA and Angela (Scott) Lowe of Indianapolis; siblings, Carolyn "Kitty" Frey and Kristi (Larry) Cleveland, both of Indianapolis; grandson, Morgan Lowe; devoted nephew and friend, Kevin Marrs; as well as family and friends from the Indianapolis jazz community. His sister, Mary Ann Kuetemeier-Marrs, preceded him in death.
Kirk's passion was music - all types, all instruments. He had an affinity for jazz, especially horns. Throughout his music career, he played the trumpet, flugelhorn, baritone horn and his favorite, the valve trombone. Kirk started playing when he was five and by 18 was playing in nightclubs throughout the city.
He began his inside sales career at Central Supply Company, later working for Jackson Engineering, Bragg Companies and Duraflo Equipment. Most recently, Kirk was employed at The Hill Company, retiring in June 2018.
Kirk thoroughly enjoyed his Patoka Lake cottage in Taswell, IN. He immersed himself in wood crafting, gardening and the sounds and scenery of the Hoosier National Forest.
A celebration of Kirk's life will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 3 - 6 PM at Indy Musicians Local 3, 325 N. Delaware St., Indpls, IN 46204. Memorial contributions may be made to Indy Humane, 7929 N. Michigan Rd., Indpls, IN 46268.
