Larry Walter Slaugh, Capt. USMC (ret.)
75 of Carmel passed away May 24, 2013. He was born February 13, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA to J. Walter and Florence Slaugh. Larry received his Bachelor's in Business Management from San Diego State University. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Larry worked in Electronics for the Marines and later served as the I & I for the Marine Corps Indianapolis Reserves. In 1993, he formed SOCO, an election service business.
Larry was a member of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Elk Lodge, Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion #224 and the Mustang Association.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; mother, Margaret Slaugh; son, Robert Walter Slaugh (Shelley Natkow); daughters, Sharon Irene Slaugh, Michelle Ann Slaugh Johnson (Joseph), and Christine Ann Slaugh Dobben (Timothy); eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; sister, Sally (Terry) Bergman; sister-in-law, Nancy Slaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Rd, on Saturday, June 1st from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, www.larryslaugh.com.
