Lawrence (Larry) Allen Greenwald, of Westfield, Indiana, 81, passed away on October 11, 2022, at University Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1941, in Indianapolis, IN to Harry and Rose Greenwald. He grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Shortridge High School in 1959 and Butler University in 1965, BS in Accounting. He worked for Melvin Simon and Associates for over 30 years where he started as the Corporate Controller, then on to Treasurer and Senior Vice President before his retirement in 1999.
Larry was active in numerous groups throughout his life such as B’nai B’rith Men and the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, the District Two Youth Council, and past President of the Bureau of Jewish Education along with being one of the founders of the Israel Investment Club, past President of Pleasant Run Children’s Home, and many other organizations where he served on their boards.
Larry was an avid reader and loved learning and reading about history. He also had a second home in Ft. Myers, Florida where he loved to sit on the lanai and relax during the winter months.
Larry was married three times and was preceded in death by his second wife, Carol (House) Greenwald, parents Harry and Rose Greenwald, and brother Michael Greenwald. He is survived by his current wife Jeraldine (Jeri) Schnese Greenwald, his first wife Sheila Greenwald, as well as his sister Judy Sachs of Wisconsin and many cousins. He has four children and five grandchildren. His daughter Shelly (David) Malmon and granddaughter Adina from California; son Robert (Erin) Greenwald and grandchildren Danielle and Eddison from Carmel; daughter Rochelle Greenwald from California; daughter Julia (James) Jay and grandchildren Theodore and Olivia from King’s Lynn England.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 N. Michigan Road, Zionsville, IN 46077. The burial will follow in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery, 1300 E. 161st Street, Westfield, IN.
