Leah Dorothy Jacobson

Born on January 10th, 1917 in Bismarck, North Dakota, Leah "Lena" Dorothy (Gutterman) Jacobson , lived most of her life in Indiana. An excellent student, Leah was a graduate of Elkhart High School (class of ‘34) and the Indiana University School of Nursing (class of ('38).

Having celebrated her 100th birthday this last January, Leah survived her parents, Elkhart residents Louis and Sarah Gutterman; as well as her 3 brothers, Harold, Charlie and David. Leah's husband, Herman Jacobson, an army Vet, passed away in Elkhart in 1976.

Leah is survived by her three sons, Moe (Beverly), Jerry, and Melvin (Deborah) Jacobson, and former daughters-in-law, Gretchen Gottschalk and Jeanie Jacobson; along with 5 grandchildren, Phillip, Cara, Jahna, Micah, and Noah; and 14 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way.

Leah enjoyed reading, card games, Mahjong and loved getting together with family and friends. Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Leah Jacobson's memory may be made to the I.U.
