Leigh Barbara Massing,

60, of Zionsville passed away peacefully October 16, 2023. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Theodore Wells Massing and Barbara Ann Massing on January 5, 1963. Leigh grew up on the westside of Indianapolis and attended Wayne Township Schools, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1982.

Leigh was very active growing up and was involved in many sports and activities. She was a cheerleader in 6th and 7th grade for Fulton Junior High. She also loved to swim at the local neighborhood pool and competed in swim meets. Leigh was an avid tennis player, and she became quite good by spending hours practicing at the neighborhood tennis courts. She competed for Ben Davis High School and briefly for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School. She was also musically inclined and played flute in the Ben Davis Giants marching band.

Leigh was a loving soul who enjoyed helping people. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was active in her church. She especially loved Bible studies.

Leigh worked for several years at Kroger in different areas: deli, greeter, carts, bagger. She loved interacting with people.

Survivors include her loving brother, David Massing; sister, Kim (Dan) Stratton; nephew, Darren Stratton; and aunt, Carole McGrath.

A Celebration of Leigh’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 21, 2023 at Chapel Hill Methodist Church, 963 N. Girls School Road, Indianapolis Indiana 46214.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Leigh’s honor.
