Lena Cohen

Lena "Lee" Nahmias Cohen, 94 years of age, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away on May 11, 2016.

Lee was born on July 4, 1921 to Sam and Clara Nahmias in Indianapolis. She was a graduate of Manual High School. She married the late Hymen A. Cohen in 1944 and together they raised five children. After her children were born, Lee worked for a short time as a Customer Relations Specialist for Blue Cross.

Lee was a long time member of Etz Chaim Sephardic Congregation, Hadassah's Indianapolis Chapter and Broadmoor Country Club. She was an avid golfer and bridge player.

Survivors include her beloved children: Dr. Rosalind (Dr. Michael Hogan) Warner, Alan (Linda) Cohen, Dr. Steven (Elissa) Cohen, Gary (Marlene) Cohen and Dr. Jay J. Cohen; grandchildren: Scott Warner , Emily, Erin and Tyler Hogan, Nathan (Ana) Cohen, Lauren (Chad) Edmundson, Joey (Leslie) Cohen, Jennifer Cohen , Andy (Jennifer) Cohen, Lindsay (Mark) Goffman and Dr. Risa (Tom) Davidson; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Joe and Harry (Rae) Nahmias and sister, Betty Calderon.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, two brothers, and granddaughter, Lynn Cohen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2016 at ARN Funeral and Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Road. Burial will follow in Etz Chaim Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Etz Chaim Sephardic Congregation, 6939 Hoover Road, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
