Leonard Larry Winneroski

April 26, 1942 — January 12, 2025

Leonard "Larry" Winneroski, 82, born on April 26, 1942, in Escanaba, Michigan, passed away peacefully in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 12, 2025. He graduated from Sault High School in Class of 1960 and then attended Sault Ste. Marie Tech for 2 years. 

Throughout his esteemed career, Mr. Winneroski played the trumpet professionally in his dance band and retired from Michigan Consolidated Gas Company after 34 years of service. Larry and his family moved six times with MichCon, where he starting his career selling gas appliances and ending it as an area manager.  He enjoyed volunteering at his church, spending time with family and friends, traveling, music, cooking, gardening, yard work and playing golf.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan "Toni" Winneroski, their son, Leonard "Len" Winneroski II, daughter-in law, Ann Winneroski, their four grandchildren, Lindsey (married to Ryan Rominger), Aaron (married to Katelyn), Andrew (married to Liz) and Paige as well as two great grandchildren, Boone and Levi. The support and companionship shared with his family were foundational to his life, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Michael James Winneroski, his parents, John (Jack) Winneroski and Stella Winneroski, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity that guided him throughout his life. He was the second oldest of five children, John, Larry, Richard, William, and Elizabeth. 

A Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Larry will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Liguori Roman Catholic Church, located at 1870 West Oak Street, Zionsville, Indiana, on January 31, 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m. The community is invited to join in honoring his memory and celebrating the life he lived, marked by dedication to both his profession and his loved ones. A light lunch will be provided by the church after the Mass for those who can stay.
