Lily Bartniski

Lily Bartniski, 88, passed away on January 29 in Carmel, IN surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 15, 1930 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Lily was blessed with two wonderful marriages. She was married to Michael Bartniski for 37 years. Following Michael's passing, she met and married John Jacklitch, with whom she shared her life for 26 years.
Lily never knew a stranger. She loved interacting with people and would never hesitate to strike up a conversation with anyone she might come across. Her ebullient and ever-generous personality was displayed anytime someone would ask her how she was doing, which usually drew her enthusiastic response of "I'm happy," which would always be met with a smile from the person asking.
Lily loved her church and was a founding member of over 50 years at Community United Methodist Church in Elyria. She was extremely active until the very end, volunteering at the hospital, attending plays, travelling, water aerobics, pilates and even roller skating.
She had a wonderful, loving personality and would do anything for anyone. The world is a lesser place without her in it, but we are now blessed with a guardian angel in heaven watching over us.
Lily was preceded in death by husbands, Michael Bartniski and John Jacklitch; and daughters, Linda Bartnyska and Susan Gildersleeve. She is survived by son, Steve (Debbie) Bartniski; and grandchildren, Lauren Bartniski, Ashley Bartniski, and Mike (Chelsea) Dunn.
A celebration of Lily's life will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11:00 am at Community United Methodist Church, 680 Abbe Road N., Elyria, OH, 44035, with a luncheon immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Lily Bartniski to Community United Methodist Church.
