Linda Lea (Sullivan) Phillips

If a person’s character could be summarized in one word, for Linda Phillips that word would be “kind”.  She did all things in kindness.  Linda lived a full and vibrant life before passing away peacefully and surrounded by family on February 20, 2021.   Born Linda Lea Sullivan on March 9, 1937 in Morristown, Indiana, she had many fond memories of growing up on her family’s farm.  She graduated from Morristown High School and soon after married the love of her life, Howard Phillips.  Together they built a life full of love and laughter, welcoming two children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.   They made Zionsville, Indiana their home for many years.   Linda loved living in Zionsville.  She was actively involved in the community and was a member of the Zionsville Village Arts and Studies.

Linda worked at Indianapolis Power & Light and as a dental hygienist.    In addition, she was an integral part of the family’s Zionsville-based remodeling company, Howard Phillips, Inc.   Her most beloved roles, however, were that of Mother, Aunt, and Grandmother.  Aside from her passion for family, she enjoyed writing poetry, drawing and painting, gardening, playing games (being particularly gifted at Rummy-O and Euchre), trying new foods, and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, Howard L. Phillips; her parents, John C. Sullivan and Doris E. Sullivan; and her sisters, Marjorie Conaway and Shirley Sue Sullivan.  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dena (Jack) Farling; son, Todd (Nannette) Phillips; granddaughters, Kendall Phillips and Shelby Phillips; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Lindeman and Matthew Dickey; and great grandchildren, Grayson Lindeman and Stella Lindeman.   Linda is survived by her dear friend and sister-in-law, Patricia (William) Simmons as well as numerous cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Her mark on this earth is evident in all those who had the privilege to know her.  Although there is peace in knowing she is free in Heaven, her gentle nature, witty humor, timeless beauty, creativity, and fierce love will be forever missed.
