Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend and philanthropist passed away on November 6, 2018 at the age of 95. Lois was born on April 6, 1923 in Baltimore, MD to Lester and Beatrice Rosenthal.
Lois was a long-time member of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, Broadmoor Country Club and Innisbrook Golf Club in Tarpon Springs, Florida. She was an avid golfer and football fan. She and her husband, the late James Ackerman, developed Prairie View Golf Course in Carmel, Indiana and Lois supported many civic organizations. Lois' greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed the family dinners they shared. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children; Barbara (Brian) Nicholoff, Leslie Ackerman and John (Kathy) Ackerman; grandchildren, Justin Nicholoff, Allison (Brandon) Sparks and Jeffrey (Allison) Ackerman; and great grandchild, Emmett James Sparks. Lois was preceded in death by her husband and her grandson, Phillip Nicholoff.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Paige Megenhardt for her care and companionship over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 N. Michigan Road, Zionsville, IN 46077. Friends may visit with the family from 10-11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation Cemetery North.
