Lura Jane Colby

May 25, 1936 — May 19, 2014

Lura Jane Howe Colby,
77, died peacefully on a perfect May day, holding her daughter's hand. She was survived by her brother, David Howe; her son, John; her daughter, Joanne; and her grandson, Henry. She was preceded in death by her son, Tom.

Jane was a teacher, loving mother, and antique collector. Her role as cherished storyteller ensured that an extensive collection of family history was preserved and passed on. She will be remembered for her artistic soul, her ever-present kindness and her unmatched devotion to her family. Her legacy to her children and grandson will continue through her love of books, the trees she planted, and a lifetime of memories.

She was a member of Mensa, Oasis, and St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Her interests included nature, gardening, gourds, Oasis classes, summers in Wenona, and collecting books for her grandson.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist church on Saturday, June 7th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Robertson chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

Arrangements entrusted to A.R.N. Cremation Services. Friends may leave a memory or message of condolence by visiting the online obituary at www.arnmortuary.com.
