Mamie Stoshitch

July 22, 1923 — September 13, 2017

Mamie Stoshitch

94, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, September 13 at her home. Mamie was born July 22, 1923 to Serbian immigrants Katie and Stephen Bosiak making her the first American born child of her family. She married another first-generation American born Serbian, Bozidar Stoshitch when she was 18 years old and they were married until his death on July 3 of this year, just two weeks before their 75th wedding anniversary.

Mamie and Boz had an epic marriage filled with love & travel. They wintered in Florida and traveled to Europe 13 times. Because she spoke five languages fluently, they easily made their way through many countries, Yugoslavia, Austria, and Italy just to name a few. One of her favorite trips was spending New Year's Eve in London.

Mamie also enjoyed playing golf, knitting, and taking daily walks. She loved working at Lazarus in the China department so she could collect China and Waterford crystal by scouting sales and using her employee discount... she frequently bragged "I am very smart with money".

Mamie was preceded in death by both her daughters Diana and Vida in 2014, just months apart. She is survived by one sister; Mary Thompson, her two nieces Marsha Thompson and Cindy Thompson; nephew, Eric Smith; four grandchildren, Amy (Gregg) Kendall, Anne (Rick) Ward, Bo (Melissa) Bailey, and Nick (Karen) Bailey; and six great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday September 19, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. with visitation beginning at 11 A.M. until the time of service at the A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N.
