Margaret Mitenbuler McCormick
passed away on Oct. 7th, 2013 at the age of 89. She lived in Buchanan, Michigan for 30 years (1974-2004) and was an active member of the community. She was instrumental in the conversion of the Tin Shop into a theater and participated in every facet of its operation (from taking tickets to picking the fabric for the curtains and painting the floor). She was a central figure in the restoration and operation of the Pears Mill, a significant historic landmark in Buchanan. She was a member of the Buchanan Area Fine Arts Council for twenty years and served as President from 1994-1999. All these activities brought her great satisfaction.
She also enjoyed renovating and caring for her Greek Revival style home at 307 West Front Street in Buchanan. She was a member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church. In recent years she resided in Evanston, IL and then Indianapolis, IN to be near her children.
She is survived by her three children, Jack Mitenbuler, Indianapolis, IN, Kurt Mitenbuler, Evanston, IL, and Beth Rosenfield, Ridgefield, CT; six grandchildren, Reid, Sara, Peter, Matthew, Bradley, and Maya; one great grandchild, Esther; and her sister, Martha Cox.
